There is a black ops division of the CIA whose agents aren’t your typical spies. In fact... They’re not even human.
Project Psion was founded in the year 2010 and started out as an advancement in stem cell research that inadvertently created a perfect warrior- an artificial humanoid far stronger than the average human with extremely strong mental abilities. The Psions, as they were called, were quickly mass produced, but, unfortunately, that which makes them stronger also makes their bodies fail far more quickly and usually after five years they shut down completely. Experiments on trying to make their bodies last longer yielded very little in the way of results and the CIA was forced to keep mass-producing them to replace each one they lost, thus creating an army of powerful warriors with no emotions and no qualms about killing.
Until the Betas.
Handled by a senior CIA officer whose fatherly nature got the better of him, the Betas have developed more human emotions and are more of a family unit than a team. While they’re just as strong as any of the other Psions, they actually care about things which can either be seen as weakness or something that makes them stronger and better than most. Either way, they’re the black sheep of Project Psion and have more to prove than most, especially since most of the team consists of rejects who weren’t strong enough or had quirks that weren’t suited for the other teams.
But that’s okay. They love each other and that’s all that matters to them. That and they kick ass.
(And yes, as a matter of fact. I do reuse PB's a lot. SHUT UP. You can't resist the cuteness of Cheno/Anders, which is why it happened like that. *facepalm*)
